K.I.S.S.

The Diva's
Weekly Challenge #198: "K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple, silly!)"

The first tile is actually one I did yesterday. It's funny, I had been thinking that I wanted to just sit quietly and tangle something simple!! (The spiral came automatically)

The second is my tile from the 1st Diva Challenge, 20 Dec 2010. It's laminated and sits on my desk as a drink coaster.

Feeling Festive

The festive season has started!
Rosie Hill's playful jujubeedze sways with a party spirit while arukas has a bit of a thing happening with mooka.  Little jetties are rolling about in all directions. Oops, gneiss has gone green but tripoli has come to the rescue keeping the whole party together.

Cheers, have a jolly weekend, enjoy your festivities and keep safe!

Arukas

If you have missed Molly's amazing new tangle, called arukas, you will find the step-outs by clicking here.
It's taken me a few attempts to find my own spin on this ticklish tangle. Today I've had a jolly good whirl pulling, stretching the threads and tying off the ends. Yes, arukas is another favourite tangle.
Thanks Molly!

All Dolled Up

The Diva's Weekly Challenge #196: All Dolled Up

Emily Classon has shared her paper doll dress ups this week. Thanks Emily, yes when I was young I loved making paper dolls and clothes with my cousin on the summer holidays. We would spend hours designing, drawing and making up stories.

(Just having a chuckle at her droopy breasts!!)

Challenge 195

The Diva's

Weekly Challenge #195: "Turning Old into New"
The clever idea for our challenge this week comes from Sandy Hunter at tanglebucket.blogspot.com
Select favourite freeform tangles and turn them into grid tangles.

If you find tripoli tricky try this, I was surprised how well it turned out. Draw two lines for the grid and one line through the middle of each square .......fill the triangles.  I am going to do this more often.
Thanks Sandy, that's a splendid idea.

Hurry in the corners

Last week our Facebook group Square One - Purely Zentangle featured the tangle hurry.

That was early in the week but a few days later hurry exploded into squill with pops of colour!

Left Hand Challenge

The Diva's
Weekly Challenge 194: “Embracing the Yuck”

Ok! My left hand wobbles, bobbles, feels tight and is not my happy hand but for our guest blogger, Elisa Murphy and Our Diva I am with you and will do It!

Elisa suggests we throw perfection out the window with pride and let your Zentangle freaky-line flag fly.

Admittedly I had put it off until later in the day, flexed, stretched and wiggled my left hand fingers but still felt tight, it wasn't until I'd finished that I thought I am getting better at this and felt quite happy with the finished tile......good luck everyone with your non-dominant hand!

A Sea Purk

Ideas are never ending with Zentangle. By drawing a string first you have already made a start and are not looking at a blank page. Some tangles like purk can be started with a simple oval shaped string line drawn in pencil. Don't be tempted to go over the sting with the pen because then you are restricted on where to go next and you don't achieve nice soft edges.

Paper size: 8" x 10"

Ernst's Shell

Have you seen Ernst Haeckel's book Art forms in Nature? Check out some images here. It was recommended to me quite a while ago, you will certainly go 'wow' and find it a splendid resource for inspiration.
Rick and Maria have included it in their bibliography in The Book of Zentangle to so that's a good recommendation.

Have a happy enjoyable weekend!

Seton

The Diva's
Weekly Challenge #192: "UMT - Seton by Cris Letourneau"

My seton may look a bit unorthodox and it turned out to be quite a mystery, I really didn't know where the trails were going to finish up......more unknown out comes! Thanks Cris and Alexa, seton is a fantastic tangle.

Red Rebel

Ooops to much red!!!! I know, I hear you say "Appreciate and don't be critical of your art". I definitely agree and certainly there are bits in there that I can appreciate but the red is so overpowering.

Five Tiles

Where did that time go? How often do you sit down with your Zentangle kit and say "just one tile" then "just one more" then "okay that was fun just one more." Whoops, then there was five!!

No peeking!

The Diva's Weekly Challenge #187: "String Theory - Blind String"

Actually I think that when drawing a string on a tile, keeping your eyes closed is one of the best way to do it!

Zentangle Workshop In The Tropics

Oh wow, today my morning started with this delightful movie clip sent from my very artistic friend Ingrid. Our Zentangle workshop was held in her elegant Queensland home set in the lush tropical rainforest nestled between the city of Cairns and the beautiful green mountains.
Everyone focused, relaxed, enjoyed the ambience and created stunning Zentangle art. The enthusiasm of the class was infectious and I was overjoyed with the results achieved.

Thank you so much Ingrid and Yvonne for inviting me to share my passion for Zentangle.

Thanks Molly...3 cheers!

X-Did

The Diva's
Weekly Challenge #183: "UMT - X-Did" by Annette Carlo

Our featured tangle this week is the sparkly x-did by Annette Carlo, with all the diamond shapes I though a good mix would be to add the tangles facets and footlights.

Square One: Purely Zentangle

Back in July Chris Titus and Jenny Perruzzi created a Facebook group called Square One: Purely Zentangle. Their idea is to go back to the basics of Zentangle with the act of focusing on the stoke of our pen on paper to create patterns. We are staying simple and pure with just black pens and grey pencil shading on a white 3.5" x 3.5" tile. A tangle is presented each week as a suggestion with the choice of using it as a monotangle or adding more tangles. The group has shared beautiful creations with stunning ideas and stories. Thank you Chris and Jenny, it's lovely to go back to the beginning, keep it simple with a bit of a tweak or tangleation.
